Elegant and fashionable, this chunky neckwarmer from Bernat Yarns will add a statement to every jacket you pair it with. Be bold in red or use a lighter color for a softer look. For all skill levels, this lacy crochet pattern is a must-have.

Chunky Neckwarmer

MATERIALS

  • Bernat® Softee Chunky
  • (Solids: 100 g/3.5 oz)
  • 1 ball of #39522 (Redwood)
    OR (Ombres: 80 g/2.8 oz) 2 balls
  • Crochet Hook: size 6 mm (U.S. J/10) or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • 3 buttons.

MEASUREMENTS
Approx 7 x 24 ins [18 x 61 cm].

GAUGE
11 sc and 13 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS
Ch 29.
1st row: (RS). 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 3 dc). *Miss next 3 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Rep from * to last 4 ch. Miss next 3 ch. 1 sc in last ch. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in first sc. Miss next 2 dc. 1 sc in next dc. Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. *Miss next sc and 2 dc. 1 sc in next dc. Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Rep from * to last 4 sts. Miss next 3 sts. 1 sc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Rep last row for pat until work from beg measures 24 ins [61 cm], ending with a WS row. Fasten off.

FINISHING
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to top of left edge. Work 1 row of sc evenly spaced down left side edge. Rep for right side edge.
Wrap neckwarmer around neck and mark button placement. Attach buttons, noting buttonholes will be created from openwork sts of pat.
