If you're looking for easy crochet crafts, these Small Happy Flowers by Roseanna Beck are perfect! Use Red Heart Yarn to make these adorable flowers with paste-on eyes. Kids will love these, and they would also make great gifts for Mother's Day!

Small Happy Flower

Materials:

  • 15 yds. Light Peach (or color of your choice) Red Heart 4-ply yarn
     
  • 5 yds. Paddy Green or Spring Green Red Heart 4-ply yarn
     
  • 2 7mm paste-on eyes
     
  • G, H and I crochet hooks

Instructions:

STITCHES USED: Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Half Double Crochet (hdc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitch (sl st)

FLOWER

Rnd 1: With G hook and flower color ch 4 and form a ring.

Rnd 2: Ch 4, (sc in ring, ch 3) 5 times, join with sl st to first ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch 3 sp around, join with sl st to first sc. (6 petals)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sl st in joining sc, ch 5, *sl st in sp bet next 2 petals, ch 5, rep from * around, join with sl st to first sc. (Place ch 5 loops behind petals)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch 5 loop around, join with sl st to first sc and fasten off.

CENTER FLOWER INSERT

Rnd 1: Ch 4 and form a ring, 6 sc in ring, join to beg sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same sp and in each sc around, join to beg sc. (12 sc)

STEM

With H hook and double strand of paddy green or spring green ch 30, sl st in 5th ch from hook to form top of the stem.

LEAVES (make 2)

With I hook and paddy green or spring green ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, working along original ch 7 hdc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sl st into opposite side of original chain, working along opposite side of original ch 7, ch 2, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sl st in beg ch st and fasten off.

FINISHING

Paste 2 eyes on center flower insert and sew into middle of the flower.

Sew stem to back of flower.

Sew 2 leaves to stem (as shown on photo).
