I don't understand this: 'hdc around length of joining dc', on rd. 1 of the Top section. Help?? Thanks!

Love this pattern! Have made several bags already and plan to make more. Changed the pattern around a bit and used some nylon roping to get a different look, but this pattern is my fave so far. Thanks for sharing it!

Texasmom - you can find a tutorial for making the adjustable ring and working the next row on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvjYPFBP85c. There are lots of crochet tutorials there and on another site: http://www.wonderhowto.com/arts-crafts/knitting-crochet-video/ Hope this helps.

I love the handles on this bag and will use the technique for handles for other bags I make. They are reinforced with less stretch and look so uniform when crocheted! Thank you Darla, for another great pattern.

I am having trouble getting the base started. Can you help me with Rounds 1 and 2? Molly

the easy way to print patterns without all the extra information is to highlight what you want to print go to "print preview" choose "as highlighted on the screen" You only print what you want and this pattern minus the picture prints on one page. If you want the picture just choose the picture and print it on the back of the sheet the pattern is printed on.

Seazmom, I did a "copypaste to my notebook and only used 1 page.

Ladies and gentlemen First of all, thank you for your broad and deep collection of patterns and hints and for the attractive newsletters in which you distribute them. I chose this pattern for Christmas gifts and printed a copy to work from. I found it ironic that the pattern for an eco-friendly product took three pages to print one page worth of actual directions. In future, I will have to preview the process, eliminating this waste. It would be lovely if going forward you gave a thought to a print format that would reduce this waste.
