These beginner crochet afghan patterns from Roseanna Beck are the perfect way to spend an evening. Grab your hooks and make this Pink and White Dreams Afghan, perfect for a little girl's room.

Size: 38” x 42”

Materials:

  • 620 yds. Baby Pink Red Heart 4-ply yarn
  • 425 yds. White Red Heart 4-ply yarn
  • H crochet hook or size needed for gauge

Gauge: V St, Cluster Stitch, V St – 3 ¼”
4 rows – 3”

Stitch Guide:

Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitch (sl st)
Special Stitches: Cluster Stitch (Cl St) – 5 dc
V St – dc, ch 1, dc

 

Instructions:
Row 1 – With pink and H hook ch 124, work 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, skip 3 ch, V St in next ch, *skip 3 ch, Cl St in next ch, skip 3 ch, V St in next ch, rep from * across to last 4 ch, skip 3 ch, 3 dc in last ch, ch 3 and turn.
Row 2 – Dc in same sp, Cl St in ch 1 sp of V St, V St in center dc of Cl St, rep across ending 2 dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 3 – 2 dc in same sp, V St in center dc of Cl St, Cl St in ch 1 sp of V St, rep across ending  3 dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 4 – Rep Row 2, fasten off and turn.
Row 5 – Join white with a sl st in first dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, cont. with Row 3 ending ch 3  and turn.
Row 6 – Rep Row 2, fasten off and turn.

Work color pattern as follows:
4 rows pink 2 rows white (8 times) 4 rows pink for a total of 52 rows

Rnd 1 – With white work along top edge (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner dc, *ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in center dc of Cl St, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 sp, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner dc, work along side edge *ch 1, sc in sp between rows, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in sp between rows, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch, work along bottom edge *ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch 3 sp, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch 3 sp, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch, work along side edge as for  other edge, join to beg dc.
Rnd 2 - Sl st into corner ch 2 sp, (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in sp, (sc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each ch 2 and ch 1 sp across ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner ch 2 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each sc and ch 1 sp across ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner ch 2 sp, (sc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each ch 2 and ch 1 sp across ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner ch 2 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each sc and ch 1 sp across, join to beg sc and fasten off.
