Lazy Lavender Shell Throw

Enjoy a lazy day with this Lazy Lavender Shell Throw from Roseanna Beck.  Made with soft purple and white yarn, this beautiful afghan is great for girls of all ages.  Use it to add color to a bedroom or living room or give it as a gift for a housewarming party.

Materials:

  • 7 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Light Lavender
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Aran
  • 4.5mm (US G-6) crochet hooks or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge:  3 Shells – 4 ½”; 4 rows – 3 ¼”

Special Stitch:  Shell – 4 dc, ch 2, dc

 

Instructions:
Afghan Measures:  46” x 57”

  1. Row 1 (RS):  With light lavender ch 144, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook, skip 4 ch, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch, repeat from * across ending skip 2 ch, dc in last ch, ch 3 and turn.
     
  2. Row 2:  (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in each ch 2 sp across, dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.

 

Color Scheme

  1. Repeat Row 2 as follows for a total of 69 rows:  6 rows light lavender, 3 rows aran (7 times), 6 rows light lavender

 

Eding

  1. Round 1:  With light lavender work along top edge starting at upper right corner (sc, ch 3, sc) in top of turning ch 3, skip 1 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch 2 space, *skip 2 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch 2 space, repeat from * across. (sc, ch 3, sc) in last dc.
     
  2. Work along side edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in each side edge dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in first bottom ch.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge *(sc, ch 3, sc) in ch 4 space, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch below Shell, repeat from * across, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last ch.
     
  4. Work along side edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in each side edge dc, join to beginning sc.
     
  5. Round 2:  Work along top edge slip stitch into ch 3 corner space, ch 3 (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in space, *sc in next ch 3 space, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 3 space, repeat from * across, (5 dc, ch 2, dc) in   ch 3 corner space.
     
  6. Work along side edge *sc in next ch 3 space, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 3 space, repeat from *across (5 dc, ch 2, dc) in ch 3 corner space.
     
  7. Work along bottom edge *sc in next ch 3 space, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 3 space, repeat from * across, (5 dc, ch 2, dc) in corner ch 3 space.
     
  8. Work along side edge *sc in next ch 3 space, (4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch 3 space, repeat from *across, join to top of beginning ch 3 and fasten off.
