Blooming Flowers Afghan

Blooming Flowers Afghan

Materials:

  • 5 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Lily Pink
  • 5 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in White
  • 4.5 mm (US G-6) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge:

  • 4 rows – 3”
  • dc, ch 2, V St, ch 2 – 2”

 

Special Stitch:  V Stitch (V St) – (dc, ch 1, dc) in space or stitch as indicated in instructions.

 

Instructions:
Throw worked in multiples of 8 plus 13.
Throw Measures:   45” x 53”

  1. Row 1 : With lily pink ch 165,V St in 9th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 3 chs, dc in next ch, [ch 2, skip 3 chs, V St in next ch, ch 2, skip 3 chs, dc in next ch] across, turn.
     
  2. Row 2 (RS): Ch 5, 3 dcs in ch space of V St, ch 2, dc in next dc, *ch 2, 3 dcs in ch space of V St, ch 2**, dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, dc in 5th ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 4, 5 dcs in center st of 3 dc group, ch 1, dc in next dc, *ch 1, 5 dcs in center st of 3 dc group, ch 1**, dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, dc in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Ch 3, 7 dcs in center st of 5 dc group, dc in next dc, *7 dcs in center st of 5 dc group**, dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, dc in 3rd ch of beginning ch, fasten off and turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Join white with a slip stitch in first st, ch 2, dc in same st, ch 2, dc in center st of 7 dc group, ch 2, skip 3 sts of same 7 dc group, [V St in next st, ch 2, dc in center st 7 dc group, ch 2, skip 3 sts of same 7 dc group] across, 2 dcs in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Ch 3, dc in same st, ch 2, skip next st, dc in next dc, ch 2, [3 dcs in ch space of V St, ch 2, skip next st of same V St, dc in next st, ch 2] across, 2 dcs in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  7. Row 7: Ch 3, 2 dcs in same st, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next stitch, ch 1, [5 dcs in center st of 3 dc group, ch 1, skip next st of same 3 dc group, dc in next st, ch 1] across, 3 dcs in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  8. Row 8: Ch 3, 3 dcs in same st, skip 2 sts, dc in next st, [7 dcs in center st of 5 dc group, skip 2 sts of same 5 dc group, dc in next st] across, 4 dcs in 3rd ch of beginning ch, fasten off and turn.
     
  9. Row 9: Ch 5, skip 3 sts, V St in next st, ch 2, [dc in center st of 7 dc group, ch 2, skip 3 sts of same 7 dc group, V St in next st, ch 2] across, dc in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  10. Row 10: Ch 5, 3 dcs in ch space of V St, ch 2, dc in next dc, *ch 2, 3 dcs in ch space of V St, ch 2**, dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, dc in 5th ch of beginning ch, turn.

Color Scheme:

  • Repeat Rows 3 – 10 as follows for a total of 68 rows:  (4 rows lily pink, 4 rows white) 8 times, 4 rows lily pink 

Edging

  1. With white and right side facing work along top edge, 4 dcs in first right corner dc, [ch 3, sc in center dc of 7 dc group, ch 3, skip 3 dcs, 3 dcs in next dc] across, 4 dcs in last dc.
     
  2. Work along side edge ch 2, sc in first dc, [ch 2, 3 dcs in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc] across, 4 dcs in 3rd ch of bottom turning ch.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge, [ch 3, sc in ch below V St, ch 3, 3 dcs in ch below dc] across, 4 dcs in last dc.
     
  4. Work along side edge ch 2, sc in first dc, (ch 2, 3 dcs in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc] across, join to beginning dc of 4 dc group and fasten off.
