Autumn Granny Afghan

MATERIALS

  • Bernat® Super Value Harvest Colors (197 g/7 oz)
  • 1 ball each of:
    • Main Color (MC): (#53015 Taupe Heather)
    • Contrast A: (#53521 Rustic Heather)
    • Contrast B: (#53014 Steel Blue Heather)
    • Contrast C: (#53241 Moss Heather)
    • Contrast D: (#53309 Plum Heather)
    • Contrast E: (#53203 Teal Heather)
    • Contrast F: (#53522 Redwood Heather)
  • Size 6 mm (U.S. J or 10) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

MEASUREMENTS
Approx 46 x 52 ins [117 x 132 cm].

GAUGE: 12 sc and 13 rows = 4 ins [10 cm]. Motif = 6 ins [15 cm] square.

INSTRUCTIONS
Motif I
**Ch 4. Join in rnd with sl st to form a ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 2 dc in ring. Ch 2. (3 dc. Ch 2) 3 times in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.**
2nd rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as last sl st. [Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. Ch 1. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as last sl st. [Ch 1. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. Ch 1. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
4th rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as last sl st. [(Ch 1. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice. Ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. (Ch 1. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice. Ch 1. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.

Motif II
Work from ** to ** as given for Motif I.
2nd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. [(2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc] 3 times. (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). [1 dc in each dc to next ch-2 sp. (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 4 times. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
4th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). [1 dc in each dc to next ch-2 sp. (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 4 times. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Fasten off.

AFGHAN
Work Motif I, as follows:
With MC, make 1.
With A, make 6.
With B, make 3.
With C, make 4.
With D, make 5.
With E, make 2.
With F, make 7.

Work Motif II, as follows:
With MC, make 7.
With A, make 2.
With B, make 5.
With C, make 4.
With D, make 3.
With E, make 6.
With F, make 1.

Sew 8 Motifs into 7 Strips (see Diagram).

Edging: With RS of work facing, join MC with sl st to any corner ch-2 sp. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly around entire Afghan, having 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Join A.
Rep last rnd in following sequence: A, B, C, D, E, and F. Fasten off.
