I Have three best time management tips that work for me. First, when setting the daily calendar time slots for administrative duties, like logging sales receipts, I do it once a week at the same time and day, and most importantly, for only 2 hours. This way less interesting but very needed tasks get completed. Then, I treat myself to 2 hous of me time to relax or beautify which is a nice reward after doing yukky paperwork. I do this at the end of the day on Friday, before the weekend, when things get even more busy. Second, when setting the daily calendar time slots. Plan for every hour of the day, and be sure to plan a Flexible time slot. The Flex slot is used for unexpected events or meetings or plumbing surprises and can float during the day IF needed. I usually plan mine around lunch which is also a good time to socialize. Because we all know the one thing we can always count on is that we can't count on every day to go according to plan. Third, the oldest truth but accurate. Make a plan then work your plan or you'll end up someplace else. There is no point in having a biz plan or a calendar schedule IF you do not make yourself stick to it. This has been my biggest weakness as I turn into a big kid when I'm on a new creative idea and don't want to stop. Setting an alarm helps. When in reality, I'm much more creative and prouctive when the rest of my responsibilites are in control. Vacations are for spending the day like a kid and doing what ever, whenever, and I take them!
