I Believe Wall Hanging

Believe in holiday magic this year with this beautiful hand-sewn wall hanging. With different embellishments on each sewn square, this handmade Christmas craft will bring the warmth of Christmas into your living room.  This is a lovely way to get your home in the holiday spirit, and it also makes a lovely hostess gift if you're traveling this holiday season.

I Believe Wall Hanging

Materials:

  • 1 pack I Believe Panel Button Pack (Theresa’s Hand Dyed Buttons - 2008)
  • 1 Star of I Believe Panel by Nancy Halverson for Benartex
  • 2/3 yd. (23”x42 1/2”) coordinating fabric for backing
  • 1/4 yd. coordinating fabric for Hang tabs
  • 2/3 yd. (23”x42 1/2”) Warm n’ Natural Quilt Batting
  • Normandy Linen Thread (Hillcreek Designs) 40/2
  • 3 - 12.5” Twisted Wire Hangers (Hillcreek Designs)

 

Instructions:

  1. Cut out Panel leaving 1/4” seam allowance along the panels edge. We cut the panel out 1/4” past the Green Border, this willcut thru the red edge, remember to leave the 1/4” seam allowance. The pre-printed panel should measure 23” x 42 1/2”, set aside.
     
  2. Cut 6 - 4 1/2” x 6” fabric pieces for hang tabs.
     
  3. Cut Backing and Batting 23” x 42 1/2 ”.
     
  4. Place batting behind quilt, pin in place. Stitch around quilt blocks with running stitch and 40/2 Linen Thread.
     
  5. Attach buttons & beads to center areas on quilt as shown in photo. Or see the list below.
     
  6. Trim edges of batting to match the quilt top.
     
  7. Hang Tabs - Fold in half with right sides together sew 1/4” seam down sides of tab forming a tube (2” x 6”). Turn right side out and press. Fold in half to form the tab, Place tabs evenly” from outer edge and sew in place. Shown (2 inches from outer edge of panel). Place second tab 2 inches from the first on each side of the panel.
     
  8. Place quilt backing right sides together onto quilt top and stitch 1/4” from edge all the way around the quilt leaving a 3” opening for turning. Turn and press. Hand Stitch opening closed.
     
  9. Sew buttons onto hang tabs & outer areas.
     
  10. Hang 3 - 12.5” twisted wire quilt hanger .
