Angel and Star GarlandBy: Heidi Borchers for Inspired at Home Create stuffed angels and stars from brown grocery bags for a dimensional holiday garland this season. Hang this Christmas angel garland, designed by Heidi Borchers of Inspired at Home, from raffia or white yarn.
Materials:
Squeeze thin line of glue around edge on wrong side of design, leaving 1” unglued. With glue side down, center and press design onto remaining bag piece. Let dry. Trim excess brown bag from angel. Lightly stuff angel. Glue opening closed. Let dry. Punch holes in angel where indicated on pattern. Repeat to make desired number of angels. For 1 star, cut 2 (8”) squares of brown bag. Transfer star pattern and markings to 1 bag piece. Paint star white, up to inside pattern line (see photo). Let dry. Brush coat of glue on painted area of star. Sprinkle iridescent glitter onto wet glue. Let dry. Following gluing instructions above, assemble and stuff star. Repeat to make desired number of angels. Cut several 8” lengths of raffia. Handling several strips as 1 for each bow, thread strips through holes in designs and tie in bows to assemble garland (see photo). For hanger, cut several 30” lengths of raffia. Handling several strips as 1 for each hanger, thread strips through hole in each end of design and knot to secure.
