Capture the beauty of falling leaves with a homemade paper wrap for a pillar candle from Arnold Grummer's Paper Making Kits and Supplies. Starting with seasonal napkins makes this project a snap. You can switch out the paper design for different seasons.

Autumn Leaves Paper Candle

Materials:

  • Holiday or seasonal napkins
  • Arnold Grummer's Flame Free for Paper Crafts
  • Arnold Grummer's Papermill PRO Envelope & Stationery Kit
  • Wastepaper to recycle
  • Seasonal color candle, base
  • Seasonal silk foliage

Steps:

  1. Choose a seasonal napkin. Cut out images or a section of the napkin to layer onto handmade paper for the candle wrap.

  2. Reduce the image(s) to a single ply.

  3. Make a sheet of handmade paper. Before removing any water, lay the single ply images on the wet paper. The images will completely bond with the wet paper and become part of the new sheet.

  4. Press and dry handmade paper in the usual way.

  5. Treat the handmade paper with Arnold Grummer's Flame Free, a flame retardant for paper or fabric.

  6. Tear a band from the treated dry new sheet and wrap around candle. Secure with brads, doublestick tape or fiber wraps.

  7. Showcase the candle on a candle base with seasonal silk foliage.
