Christmas Gel Candle

By:

Enjoy the scents of the season with this Christmas Gel Candle.  Create your own DIY candle holder and then fill it with a gel candle mix and you instantly have a great gift idea for everyone on your list.  This is a fun and easy project for anyone to do, and these cute Christmas candles make great stocking stuffers and teacher's gifts, too.  Add a little fragrance for a soft scented candle that will awaken memories of Christmas's past.

Materials:

  • Transparent glass candle holder
  • Mod Podge
  • 5/32” paintbrush
  • Red paper
  • Red glitter
  • Hairdryer
  • Tree-shaped paper punch
  • Gel
  • Candle wick
  • Red seed beads (optional)

Tips:

  • Before adding the gel, embed some red seed beads in the bottom of the candle holder.
  • Give the candle a bit of sparkle by adding some red glitter to the melted gel before pouring it into the candle holder.

Instructions:

  1. Punch Christmas trees from the red paper.

  2. Paint a substantial amount of Mod Podge to the sides and bottom of the candle holder.

  3. Glue the trees in a row around the candle holder, and add a few trees to the bottom of the candle holder.

  4. Use the hairdryer to dry the row of trees and the trees on the bottom thoroughly.

  5. Paint a coat of Mod Podge over the sides and bottom of the candle holder.

  6. While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle some red glitter over the sides and bottom of the candle holder.

  7. Dry the candle holder thoroughly with the hairdryer.

  8. Repeat step 5 and dry thoroughly with the hairdryer again.
