There’s something extra special about giving and receiving handmade gifts. Whether it’s freshly baked cookies or a knitted scarf or blanket, to know that someone went out of their way to make me something means more than I can say…and it’s for that reason that I just love making gifts for people!

However, there are times where I’m simply at a loss as to what to make. Like when I’m making something for a friend I don’t know so well or an aunt or uncle, I need a little help and inspiration…and that’s why I’m so thankful for the wisdom of Mags Kandis.

From wearable accessories to home décor, Kandis’s book, Gifted: Lovely Little Things to Knit & Crochet is filled with great ideas for handmade gifts. Not only are there tons of great ideas for colorful wearables (what Kandis calls “Gifts for the Body”), like socks, wraps, scarves, and mittens, but there are also cute household items that anyone would love, like pin cushions, laptop covers, ornaments, and sachets (what she calls “Gifts for the Soul”).

Each one of her 34 project ideas in Gifted comes with beautiful full color photos and easy to read instructions. Many of the projects have unique embellishments and personal touches so the receiver knows that their present was crafted by you.

As I made my way through Gifted, I found myself coming back to these “Modern Mangas” arm warmers. They are so colorful and intricate…and I know my sister would just LOVE them! As I continued reading, it became easier and easier to come up with new gift ideas for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.

If you find pleasure in creating gifts for others, you’ll just love Gifted: Lovely Little Things to Knit & Crochet. Even if you aren’t that familiar with needles and hooks, Kandis includes several sewing and baking ideas as well, so there really is something for everyone!
