Briolette Beaded Bangle

By: Debbi Simon for BeadStyle Magazine

The Briolette Beaded Bangle from BeadStyle Magazine is simple enough for beginners, but always results in the most adorable beaded bracelets. Make hundreds of varieties of beaded bracelet patterns like this to jazz up your ensemble or to give as quick and easy gifts.

Materials:

  • 8–12 8–20mm top-drilled beads
  • 5–6 10–14mm accent beads
  • 10–12 4–5mm accent beads
  • 3mm round spacers, for each large-hole bead (optional)
  • 3-in. (7.6cm) bangle bracelet with ruffled-loop edge
  • 24–36 in. (61–90cm) 24- or 26-gauge half-hard wire
  • 15–18 2-in. (5cm) head pins
  • 2-in. (5cm) decorative head pins, for each large-hole bead (optional)
  • chainnose and roundnose pliers
  • diagonal wire cutters

Instructions:

  1. On your work space, arrange beads around a bangle. The bracelet’s weight should be somewhat balanced, but a symmetrical pattern isn’t necessary.

  2. On a head pin, string an accent bead and make the first half of a wrapped loop. If the accent bead’s hole is large, string a spacer before stringing the accent bead or use a decorative head pin. Repeat with the remaining accent beads.

  3. Cut a 3-in. (7.6cm) piece of wire. String a top-drilled bead and make a set of wraps above it. Make the first half of a wrapped loop above the wraps. If the bead is flat, make the loop perpendicular to the bead. Repeat with the remaining top-drilled beads.

  4. Attach the bead units to the bangle’s loops. There will be more loops than bead units, so cluster the bead units in one-to-five-loop groups, leaving the loops empty in between. Complete the wraps as you attach each bead unit.
