Use inexpensive pony beads to create a beaded design on a clear trash can. Berta uses an under-sea design to create a themed bucket for the bath.

Beaded Bath Bucket  Beaded Bath Buket Detail

Materials:

  • 1 – 12 inch high clear see-through trash can
  • assorted pony beads (plastic)
  • Clear Liquid Nails glue
  • Tweezers
  • Glue remover or warm water and rags
  • light sand paper
  • Art pencil (heavy lead)
  • Computer generated design (optional – can use your own drawing)

Instructions:

Lightly sand the trash can (this helps glue stick better), wipe with warm water and dry off. With pencil draw or trace desired pattern on outside of can. If using print out for pattern., place pattern on inside of can as a guide and trace lines. Start filling in all outside surfaces of can with glue and beads (flat side down) following pattern, until covered. To apply beads, use tweezers to pick up beads, put one drop of glue on can and one drop on bead and set in place. This will be time consuming, so I did 1/4th of can each day for 4 days, starting at the top of the can. Use glue remover or warm water to wipe up drips or excess glue. I also have made them with a painted interior after beading. I got my pony beads from Oriental Traders in bulk to save money.
