This Denim Back to School Chalkboard from Amanda Formaro is a great way to use up those old school clothes.  Made with old jeans, this fun mosaic framed chalkboard is great for decorating lockers, doors, or using as a classroom drawing pad.

Denim Back to School Board

Materials:

  • Framed chalkboard
  • Recycled denim jeans
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Dye or acrylic paint (optional)

Note: The project pictures uses a few splashes of color by using recycled dyed jeans. You can dye some if you like or use acrylic paint to color some pieces. No fabric medium needed as you won't be running these jeans through the washer!

Instructions:

  1. Cut denim into squares wide enough to cover and overlap the border of the chalkboard.

  2. Hot glue the squares all the way around the border, overlapping a little as you go and alternating different shades and types of denim for some contrast.
